Abstract
Disclosed are chemically modified hyaluronic acid (HA) derivatives containing hydrazido groups directly linked to the glucuronic acid residues of HA. Said hydrazido groups are used to obtain crosslinked and labeled HA derivatives. The invention further relates to methods of preparation of said HA derivatives.
Claims14
A cross linked hydrazido modified hyaluronic acid, of formula HA-CO—NH—NH—CO-HA formed by crosslinking a hyaluronic acid derivative of formula HA-CO—NH—NH2 or a salt thereof, said derivative having a part of the carboxy groups of the D-glucuronic residues modified into hydrazido groups.
A crosslinked hydrazido modified hyaluronic acid of formula HA-CO—NH—NH—Y—NH—NH—CO-HA formed by crosslinking a hyaluronic acid derivative of formula HA-CO—NH—NH2, or a salt or derivative thereof, said derivative having a part of the carboxy groups of the D-glucuronic residues modified into hydrazido groups;
- wherein Y is an aliphatic, aromatic, arylaliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic chain, and wherein said crosslinked hydrazido modified hyaluronic acid is formed by reaction of a part of the hydrazido groups of the D-glucuronic residues with another part of the hydrazido groups of the D-glucuronic residues via an amine-specific or amine-reactive linker selected from a bisaldehyde and a polyaldehyde.
