Abstract
A coaxial connector includes a surge protection component including a plurality of elongated members, a body portion that is configured to receive the surge protection component such that the elongated members extend along an outer surface thereof, and a center conductor disposed inside the body portion and spaced apart from the surge protection component so as to create a gap therebetween.
Claims7
An electrical power surge protection component, comprising:
- a printed circuit board;
- a first conductive wire having first and second ends disposed on the printed circuit board and being connected to an input terminal;
- and
- a second conductive wire having first and second ends disposed on the printed circuit board and being connected to a ground plane interface;
- wherein the first and second conductive wires are spaced apart from each other so as to form a gap region of overlap therebetween that is configured to allow an electrical spark to pass between the first and second conductive wires, a length of the gap region of overlap being defined based on a positioning of the first and second ends of the first conductive wire and the positioning of the first and second ends of the second conductive wire on the printed circuit board.
