Abstract
An optical fiber cable including, in a radial direction outward, a central strength member, a first layer of loose buffer tubes stranded around the central strength member, at least one of the loose buffer tubes of the first layer containing at least one light waveguide, an intermediate layer, a second layer of loose buffer tubes stranded around the intermediate layer, at least one of the loose buffer tubes of the second layer containing at least one light waveguide, and a jacket surrounding the second layer of loose buffer tubes, wherein the intermediate layer is formed of a material having a high coefficient of friction.
Claims19
An optical fiber cable, comprising:
- a central strength member;
- a first layer of loose buffer tubes stranded around the central strength member, at least one of the loose buffer tubes of the first layer containing at least one light waveguide;
- an intermediate layer;
- a second layer of loose buffer tubes stranded around the intermediate layer, at least one of the loose buffer tubes of the second layer containing at least one light waveguide;
- and a jacket surrounding the second layer of loose buffer tubes;
- wherein the intermediate layer is formed of a material having a coefficient of friction of greater than 0.4, measured according to test method ISO 8295-1995.
