Dyes, compositions comprising dyes and methods for using the same are provided.

A functionalized dye selected from one of the following compounds:
- wherein
- X is alkyl optionally substituted with amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxy, alkoxy, or pyridinyl, wherein the alkyl portion of the alkoxy, alkylamino and dialkylamino may be further substituted with hydroxy;
- wherein
- Z is alkyl optionally substituted with amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxy, alkoxy, or pyridinyl, wherein the alkyl portion of the alkoxy, alkylamino and dialkylamino may be further substituted with hydroxy;
- or
- wherein
- Y is alkyl optionally substituted with amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxy, alkoxy, or pyridinyl, wherein the alkyl portion of the alkoxy, alkylamino and dialkylamino may be further substituted with hydroxy;
- or a cosmetically acceptable salt thereof.
