Abstract
A method of producing patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene by contacting at least one polypeptide with farnesyl phyrophosphate (fpp). The method may be carried out in vitro or in vivo to produce patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene, compounds which can be useful in the field of perfumery.
Claims15
A method for producing patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene comprising
- a) contacting farnesyl phyrophosphate (FPP) with at least one polypeptide having a patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene synthase activity and comprising an amino acid sequence at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO:1 under conditions conducive to the production of patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene;
- b) optionally, isolating the patchoulol and 7-epi-α-selinene produced in step a).
