Abstract
A method of manufacturing an implantable medical lead is disclosed herein. The method may include: providing a lead body including a proximal end, a distal end, and an electrode near the distal end; provide a conductor extending between the proximal and distal ends; providing a crimp including a ribbon-like member and extending the ribbon-like member around the conductor; and mechanically and electrically connecting the ribbon-like member to the electrode.
Claims5
An implantable medical lead comprising:
- a longitudinally extending body having a distal end and a proximal end;
- an electrode on the body near the distal end;
- a lead connector end operably coupled to the proximal end of the body;
- a tubular braid arrangement having an electrical conductor braided with an electrical nonconductor;
- wherein the electrical conductor extends between the lead connector end and the electrode;
- and
- a crimp slug comprising a slot head and a tail extending from the slot head, the slot head having a generally half-cylinder shape that defines a trough and the slot head having a slot;
- wherein the electrical conductor is received in the trough, wherein the tail is looped around the electrical conductor, threaded through the slot, and cinched about the electrical conductor, and wherein the slot head is crimped down on the tail to secure the electrical conductor onto the crimp slug.
