Abstract
A method of generating output image data comprises obtaining derivative data relating to a reference image; obtaining a constraint for output image data; and generating the output image data from the derivative data relating to the reference image in dependence on the constraint. This method can be used to recover a robust output image from the derivative of an input image.
Claims35
A method of generating output image data, comprising:
- obtaining derivative data relating to a reference image,
- obtaining a constraint for output image data, wherein the constraint includes minimizing the sum of:
- the difference between a derivative of the output image data and the derivative data for the reference image, and
- a penalty term that is the product of a constant and a magnitude of the output image data, wherein a value of the constant is inversely proportional to the magnitude of the output image data, wherein a value of the constant is inversely proportional to the magnitude of a function of the output image data;
- and
- generating the output image data from the derivative data relating to the reference image in dependence on the constraint.
An image processing system comprising a first component arranged to obtain derivative data relating to a reference image,
- a second component arranged to obtain a constraint for output image data, wherein the constraint includes minimizing the sum of the difference between a derivative of the output image data and the derivative data for the reference image, wherein a value of the constant is inversely proportional to the magnitude of the function of the output image data, and
- a penalty term that is the product of a constant and a magnitude of the output image data, wherein a value of the constant is inversely proportional to the magnitude of a function of the output image data, and
- a third component operable to receive the derivative data relating to the reference image from the first component and the constraint from the second component and to generate the output image data from the derivative data relating to the reference image in dependence on the constraint.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium for storing machine-executable instructions, that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining derivative data relating to a reference image,
- obtaining a constraint for output image data, wherein the constraint includes minimizing the sum of the difference between a derivative of the output image data and the derivative data for the reference image, and
- a penalty term that is the product of a constant and a magnitude of the output image data, wherein a value of the constant is inversely proportional to the magnitude of a function of the output image data;
- and
- generating the output image data from the derivative data relating to the reference image in dependence on the constraint.
