Polymer compositions comprising peptizers, sports equipment comprising such compositions, and method for their manufacture

A four-piece golf ball, comprising:

• a core made from a polymer core composition comprising polybutadiene, a crosslinking agent, and an effective amount of at least one peptizer having a formula
• where V-Z independently are carbon or heteroatoms, and at least one of R2-R6 is halogen, with any remaining R2-R6 being independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, oxygen-bearing moieties, sulfur-bearing moieties, or aliphatic groups, and zinc diacrylate;
• a first outer layer and a second outer layer surrounding the core, at least one of the first outer layer or second outer layer comprising a polymer layer composition comprising a polyalkenamer, a crosslinking agent, and an effective amount of at least one peptizer according to the formula;
• and
• a cover layer.

A golf ball, comprising:

• a core made from a polymer composition comprising polybutadiene, tetrachloropyridinethiol peptizer, and a peroxide cross-linking system comprising di-tert-butyl peroxide and 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexyne;
• and
• at least one outer layer surrounding the core, the outer layer comprising a polymer composition comprising a polyalkenamer, a crosslinking agent, and an effective amount of at least one peptizer having a formula
• where V-Z independently are carbon or heteroatoms, and at least one of R2-R6 is halogen, with any remaining R2-R6 being independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, oxygen-bearing moieties, sulfur-bearing moieties, or aliphatic groups.
