Abstract
A method for processing signals in a system includes deriving a signal activity for a signal from a timing requirement assignment for the signal.
Claims32
A method for generating a design of a system to be implemented on a target device, comprising:
- utilizing a user assignment, specified by a user, for a signal activity for a signal-in response to determining that the user assignment exists;
- determining whether simulation data exists for the signal in response to determining that the user assignment for the signal activity does not exist;
- utilizing the simulation data to assign the signal activity to the signal in response to determining that the simulation data exists;
- determining whether timing requirement assignments exist for the system in response to determining that the simulation data does not exist;
- utilizing the timing requirement assignments to assign the signal activity to the signal in response to determining that the timing requirement assignments exist;
- and
- optimizing power for the design of the system according to the signal activity by modifying one of placement and routing of the system on the target device, wherein the determining, utilizing, and optimizing procedures are performed by a computer.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions, the instructions when executed causes a computer to perform:
- determining whether a user assignment for a signal activity, specified by a user, exists for a signal;
- utilizing the user assignment to assign the signal activity to the signal if the user assignment exists;
- determining whether simulation data exists for the signal in response to determining that the user assignment for the signal activity does not exist;
- utilizing the simulation data to assign the signal activity to the signal in response to determining that the simulation data;
- determining whether timing requirement assignments exist for the system in response to determining that the simulation data does not exist;
- utilizing the timing requirement assignments to assign the signal activity to the signal in response to determining that the timing requirement assignments exist;
- and
- optimizing power for the design of the system according to the signal activity by modifying one of synthesis, placement, and routing of the system on the target device.
