Method and apparatus for network management

A method for managing resource nodes, the method comprising:

• communicating with resource nodes using a binary web service;
• storing a registry of the resource nodes in a resource directory;
• caching information related to resource nodes in a data cache;
• receiving Simple Network Management Protocol requests regarding data related to the resource nodes by an interface;
• obtaining the requested data from the cache or from the nodes;
• responding to the request by sending the requested data;
• and
• defining resources of the nodes as a Uniform Resource Identifier web resource structure,
• wherein the resources of the nodes operationally connected to the apparatus belong to more than one domain, and the resources of different domains are separated using a different Authority component for each domain in Uniform Resource Identifier path.

A non-transitory, computer program distribution medium readable by a computer and encoding a computer program of instructions for executing a computer process carrying out a method comprising:

• communicating with resource nodes using a binary web service;
• storing a registry of the resource nodes in a resource directory;
• caching information related to resource nodes in a data cache;
• receiving Simple Network Management Protocol requests regarding data related to the resource nodes by an interface;
• obtaining the requested data from the cache or from the nodes;
• and
• responding to the request by sending the requested data;
• and
• defining resources of the nodes as a Uniform Resource Identifier web resource structure,
• wherein the resources of the nodes operationally connected to the apparatus belong to more than one domain, and the resources of different domains are separated using a different Authority component for each domain in Uniform Resource Identifier path.
