Abstract
Systems and methods for improved communications using tunneled direct link setup are described herein. The systems and methods relate to discovery, link setup, channel switching, multicasting, link selection, and quality of service implemented in conjunction with tunneled direct link setup.
Claims28
A method implemented in a wireless apparatus, the method comprising:
- receiving a discovery request from a wireless station via an access point;
- determining a data rate for transmitting a response to the discovery request, wherein the data rate is between a first maximum rate associated with the access point and a second maximum rate supported by the wireless apparatus;
- and
- transmitting the response to the wireless station directly at the determined rate to set up a direct link to the wireless station with priority over setting up a direct link to a second wireless station when the determined rate is greater than a data rate for the second wireless station.

A wireless apparatus comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor coupled to the memory, the memory and processor being cooperatively configured to:
- receive a discovery request from a wireless station via an access point;
- determine a data rate for transmitting a response to the discovery request, wherein the data rate is between a first maximum rate associated with the access point and a second maximum rate supported by the wireless apparatus;
- and
- transmit the response to the wireless station directly at the determined rate to set up a direct link to the wireless station with priority over setting up a direct link to a second wireless station when the determined rate is greater than a data rate for the second wireless station.
