Abstract
A method for forming a nanostructure according to one embodiment includes creating a hole in an insulating layer positioned over an electrically conductive layer; and forming a nanocable in the hole such that the nanocable extends through the hole in the insulating layer and protrudes therefrom, the nanocable being in communication with the electrically conductive layer. Additional systems and methods are also presented.
Claims17
A method for forming a nanostructure, comprising:
- forming a nanocable on a substrate such that the nanocable has a free end and sides extending downwardly from the free end;
- forming a first layer of first photovoltaic material over the free end of the nanocable and downwardly along the sides of the nanocable;
- forming a second layer of a second photovoltaic material over and along the sides and the free end of the nanocable and over sides and a free end of the first layer, wherein the first and second layers form a photovoltaically-active p-n junction;
- and
- forming an electrode over and along the sides and the free end of the nanocable and over sides and a free end of the second layer.
