Abstract
The present invention provides methods and compositions of polypeptides having isoprene synthase activity with improved performance characteristics. In particular, the present invention provides legume isoprene synthases for increased isoprene production in recombinant host cells.
Claims18
A host cell comprising a heterologous polynucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide from a legume having isoprene synthase activity in operable combination with a promoter, wherein said polypeptide has at least 85% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 3 or at least 90% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 9, wherein said isoprene synthase has one or more properties selected from the group consisting of a Kcat value of at least about 1.3, a Km value of at least about 2.5, and a Ki value of at least about 13.0, and wherein said isolated polypeptide is not from P. montana.
