Compositions and methods for treatment of toxin poisoning are disclosed.

A mutant ricin toxin that is mutated relative to the wild type ricin A chain toxin of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein the mutations are selected from the group consisting of i) RI89A and R234A;
- ii) RI93A and R235A;
- iii) RI93A and R235A and RI89A;
- iv) RI93A and R235A and R234A;
- v) RI93A and R235A and RI89A and R234A;
- and vi) R213A and R258A.
