Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of an amyloidosis such as Alzheimer's disease in a subject in need thereof, characterized in that it comprises administering an inhibitor of the interaction between Aβ globulomer and the P/Q type voltage-gated presynaptic calcium channel to said subject.
Claims3
A method for the treatment of an amyloidosis disease comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an agent that inhibits the interaction between Aβ globulomer and P/Q type voltage-gated presynaptic calcium channel, wherein the agent is an antibody that binds to the P/Q type voltage-gated presynaptic calcium channel, wherein the amyloidosis disease is selected from the group consisting of Alzheimer's disease and Down's syndrome, wherein the antibody is raised against a peptide mapping near the C-terminus of the α1A subunit of the P/Q type voltage-gated presynaptic calcium channel, and wherein the antibody is sc-16228.
