Abstract
The present invention provides a method for the detection of particulates in a sample, wherein the particulates are introduced into a plasma and the potential difference between a common electrode and each of a plurality of indicator electrodes is measured. The invention further provides an electrode array and an apparatus which can be used for the potentiometric detection of particulates in a sample.
Claims19
A method for the detection of particulates in a sample, comprising:
- (i) introducing the particulates into a plasma;
- and
- (ii) measuring a potential difference between a common electrode and each of a plurality of indicator electrodes.
A potentiometric apparatus for the detection of particulates in a sample, comprising:
- (i) a means arranged to introduce the particulates into a plasma;
- and
- (ii) a common electrode and at least three indicator electrodes;
- wherein the electrodes are positioned to measure the potential difference between the common electrode and each of the at least three indicator electrodes in the plasma.
