Depth controllable and measurable medical driver devices and methods of use

A medical driving device comprising:

• a housing having a proximal end and a distal end and a hand-held portion near the proximal end of the housing;
• a first drive shaft extending through a region of the housing between the proximal and distal ends;
• a first motor coupled to a region of the first drive shaft;
• a second motor coupled to a second drive shaft;
• a coupler coupled to the second drive shaft, wherein the coupler is interchangeably connected to a working tool;
• a tool guide assembly coupled to the housing, the tool guide assembly comprising:
• a tool guide surrounding the working tool;
• and
• a surface guide having a proximal region and a distal region, the distal region configured to couple to the tool guide and the proximal region configured to couple to the first motor,
• wherein the first motor causes axial motion of the tool guide assembly towards the proximal end of the housing to a retracted state upon actuation and drives a length of the working tool into a target region of a bone;
• a torque sensor configured to sense torque in at least the second motor by continuously measuring current used to drive the second motor to sense in real-time a change in torque;
• and
• a programmable electronics package programmed to keep constant rotations per minute (RPM) of the second motor preventing working tool rotational acceleration or deceleration, and programmed to integrate over time the sensed torque from the torque sensor to obtain energy, which correlates to material strength of work penetrated.
