Abstract
This invention discloses methods and apparatus to form organic semiconductor transistors upon three-dimensionally formed insert devices. In some embodiments, the present invention includes incorporating the three-dimensional surfaces with organic semiconductor-based thin film transistors, electrical interconnects, and energization elements into an insert for incorporation into ophthalmic lenses. In some embodiments, the formed insert may be directly used as an ophthalmic device or incorporated into an ophthalmic device.
Claims13
A method of forming an ophthalmic device comprising:
- preparing a flat substrate;
- depositing gate metal features on predetermined areas on the flat substrate;
- depositing a dielectric film layer over and around the gate metal features;
- depositing organic semiconductor layers onto selective regions;
- forming source and drain electrodes to create a thin film organic semiconductor device on the flat substrate;
- deforming the flat substrate with the thin film organic semiconductor device into a three dimensionally shaped ophthalmic insert;
- forming at least one first conductive trace on the three dimensionally shaped ophthalmic insert;
- forming an encapsulating layer around the three dimensionally shaped ophthalmic insert;
- and
- forming an ophthalmic device encapsulating the three dimensionally shaped ophthalmic insert.
