Abstract
Disclosed herein are novel mixtures of near terminal-branched compounds and derivatives thereof. Further disclosed are methods of making these mixtures, and uses of these mixtures in cleaning compositions (e.g., dishcare, laundry, hard surface cleaners,) and/or personal care compositions (e.g., skin cleansers, shampoo, hair conditioners).
Claims9
A composition comprising at least about 50 wt % of a mixture of at least two compounds selected from the group consisting of:
- wherein A and B are each independently OH or O(C═O)R7;
- R1 is hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl;
- R2 is (C1-Cn)alkyl or (C1-Cn)alkenyl having 0, 1, 2, or 3 (C1-C3)alkyl branches, wherein when R1 is H, R2 has 1, 2, or 3 (C1-C3)alkyl branches, and when R1 is methyl or ethyl, R2 has 0, 1, or 2 (C1-C3)alkyl branches, and wherein branching occurs on carbon atoms that are within 40% of the nonfunctionalized terminus of the longest carbon chain;
- R3, R4, and R5 are each independently
- R7 is (C1-C26)alkyl;
- and,
- m is 5-37 and n is 1-33, wherein m+n is 6-38;
- and,
- wherein the composition contains less than about 2 wt % of secondary hydroxy compounds.
