Abstract
A coasting control device for avoiding dangerous modes such as tire lock up upon the end of coasting control. The device, which performs coasting control to disengage the clutch and to reduce the engine revolutions per minute (RPM), also prevents a gearshift operation during coasting control.
Claims1
A vehicle coasting control device which performs coasting control to disengage a clutch and reduce a number of revolutions per minute of an engine to a number of idle revolutions per minute when the engine is doing no work for outside of the engine while the vehicle is in motion, the coasting control device comprising:
- a gearshift prevention device for preventing a gearshift operation during the coasting control, the gearshift prevention device including
- a lock mechanism movable between a first position physically engaged with a gearshift lever to mechanically lock the gearshift lever and thereby prevent movement of the gearshift lever, and a second position retracted from the gearshift lever, thereby allowing the gearshift lever to move,
- wherein the lock mechanism is a shift-lock solenoid which has a retractable head physically received by the gearshift lever when in the first position;
- and
- a gearshift prevention controller controlling the lock mechanism so that when the coasting control is being performed, the lock mechanism is moved into the first position and, when the coasting control is not being performed, the lock mechanism is moved into the second position.
