Abstract
The present invention relates to flame retardant polymer compositions which comprise melamine phenylphosphinates and mixtures with dihydro-oxa-phosphaphenanthrene derivatives. The compositions are especially useful for the manufacture of flame retardant compounds based on polyfunctional epoxides or polycondensates like polyesters, polyamides and polycarbonates.
Claims8
A composition, comprising:
- a) from 7.5% to 20.0% by weight of a melamine phenylphosphinate salt of formula (I′):
- in combination with 7.5% to 25% 6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxazaphosphorin-6-oxide,
- and
- b) a polyfunctional epoxide compound and a hardener compound, wherein the polyfunctional epoxide compound is a polyglycidyl ether of o-cresol-formaldehyde resin and the hardener is dicyandiamide;
- and
- the amounts of said melamine phenylhosphinate salt of formula (I′) and of said 6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxazaphosphorin-6-oxide are based on the weight of the polyfunctional epoxide compound.
