Abstract
A drag-reducing additive includes 40-85% by weight of a polymer emulsion that includes a polymer, a first surfactant, and a first solvent; 10-35% by weight of a second surfactant with an HLB greater than 8; and 5-30% by weight of a second solvent. In a preferred embodiment, the second solvent includes a terpene. In another preferred embodiment, the polymer is a copolymer that includes acrylamide and acrylic acid.
Claims18
A well treatment composition for reducing drag in a well, pipeline, or gathering line, the well treatment composition comprising:
- a drag reducing additive, the drag reducing additive comprising:
- 40-85% by weight of a polymer emulsion, wherein the polymer emulsion comprises a polymer, a first surfactant, and a first solvent;
- 10-35% by weight of a second surfactant with an HLB greater than 8;
- and
- 5-30% by weight of a second solvent;
- and
- a well treatment fluid.
A well treatment composition for reducing drag in a well, pipeline, or gathering line, the well treatment composition comprising:
- from about 0.001% to about 4.7% by volume of a drag reducing additive, the drag reducing additive comprising:
- 50-99% by weight of a drag-reducing polymer;
- and
- 1-50% by weight of a surfactant with an HLB greater than 7;
- and
- from about 99.999% to about 95.3% by volume of a well treatment fluid, wherein the well treatment fluid is a fracturing fluid.
