Abstract
A heating system can include certain pressure sensitive features. These features can be configured to change from a first position to a second position based on a pressure of a fuel flowing into the feature. These features can include, fuel selector valves, pressure regulators, burner nozzles, and oxygen depletion sensor nozzles, among other features.
Claims16
A heating system for use with either a first fuel or a second fuel different from the first, the heating system comprising:
- a burner;
- a nozzle comprising:
- a nozzle housing;
- an inlet;
- at least two outlets;
- a valve comprising
- a valve body within the nozzle housing and between the inlet and the at least two outlets, the valve body defining a passageway configured to direct fluid flow through the passageway of the valve body and to act on an internal portion of the valve body;
- and
- a biasing member comprising a spring and a diaphragm, the diaphragm comprising a hole and the valve body positioned within the hole wherein the valve and biasing member are configured such that fluid flow of a predetermined pressure acts on the diaphragm and valve body to at least one of 1) open, and 2) close the valve body within the nozzle housing to control fluid flow through the nozzle, wherein independent of the position of the valve body, the nozzle being configured such that at least one of the at least two outlets remains open.
A heating system for use with either a first fuel or a second fuel different from the first, the heating system comprising:
- a burner;
- and
- a burner nozzle comprising:
- a housing defining an inlet, a first outlet, a second outlet, and an inner chamber between the inlet and the first and second outlets;
- a movable body within the inner chamber;
- and
- a biasing member comprising a spring and a diaphragm configured to regulate the position of the movable body within the inner chamber in response to a pressure of a fluid flow, flowing through the burner nozzle, the diaphragm positioned within the nozzle such that the fluid flow both acts on the diaphragm and passes through the diaphragm;
- wherein in a second position of the movable body within the inner chamber, the second outlet being closed by the movable body and the amount of flow allowed through the burner nozzle is less than in a first position and wherein the movable body is configured such that movement between the first and second positions is controlled by at least the pressure of the fluid flow acting on the diaphragm;
- wherein the movable body further comprises a channel passing therethrough such that the flow of fluid is configured to be directed through and to act on an internal portion of the movable member.
A heating system for use with either a first fuel or a second fuel different from the first, the heating system comprising:
- a burner nozzle comprising:
- a housing defining an inlet, a first outlet, a second outlet, and an inner chamber between the inlet and the first and second outlets;
- a movable body within the inner chamber, the movable body having:
- a closed end configured to engage the first outlet to thereby allow or prevent flow through the second outlet;
- and
- an open end opposite the closed end, the open end configured to allow fluid to flow into and act on an internal portion of the movable body;
- and
- a biasing member comprising a spring and a diaphragm configured to regulate the position of the movable body within the inner chamber in response to a pressure of a fluid flow, flowing through the burner nozzle, the diaphragm positioned within the nozzle such that the fluid flow both acts on the diaphragm and passes through the diaphragm;
- wherein in a second position of the movable body within the inner chamber, the second outlet being closed by the movable body and the amount of flow allowed through the burner nozzle is less than in a first position and wherein the movable body is configured such that movement between the first and second positions is controlled by at least the pressure of the fluid flow acting on the diaphragm and the internal portion of the movable body.
