Memory controller with enhanced block management techniques

A method of creating a table for a memory module, said method comprising:

• determining a value of a total number of unusable blocks in the memory module;
• storing the value of the total number of unusable blocks as an explicit number in the memory module,
• determining addresses associated with said unusable blocks to form a plurality of unusable block addresses;
• and
• arranging the plurality of unusable block addresses in a sequential order, wherein at least one method operation is executed through a processor.

A system, comprising:

• a control block;
• a memory management block coupled to the control block, wherein the control block is operable to retrieve and store a current read unusable block address;
• and
• a memory module having a plurality of unusable block addresses, the memory module further having a portion that stores an explicit value of a total number of unusable memory blocks of the memory module, the memory module coupled to the memory management block, wherein the memory management block is operable to retrieve an unusable block address from the plurality of unusable block addresses from the memory module, wherein the unusable block address is stored as the current read unusable block address in a storage element of the memory management block.
