Abstract
A nonvolatile memory system comprises a temporary power supply that supplies power in the event of an unexpected power interruption. The temporary power supply provides power while metadata stored in one or more buffers is compressed and transferred to a nonvolatile memory device.
Claims23
A nonvolatile memory system, comprising:
- a first memory configured to temporarily store metadata;
- a second memory comprised of a nonvolatile memory device configured to store compressed metadata;
- and
- a control unit configured to compress the metadata stored in the first memory while power is alternatively supplied to the nonvolatile memory system in the event of an unexpected power supply failure, and further configured to control the second memory to store the compressed metadata.

A method of managing data in a nonvolatile memory system including a nonvolatile memory device, the nonvolatile memory system being driven by an auxiliary power supply in the event of an unexpected power supply failure, the method comprising:
- compressing metadata to be stored in the nonvolatile memory system to generate compressed metadata;
- storing the compressed metadata in a first memory as temporarily-stored compressed metadata;
- and
- storing the temporarily-stored compressed metadata in the nonvolatile memory device.
