Systems and methods for portable audio synthesis

A method of performing audio synthesis, wherein an audio event is input to an audio algorithm along with associated parameters comprising source sample data, and wherein one or more samples are output by the audio algorithm, the method comprising the steps of:

• providing an interpolation function wherein the source sample data is interpolated to generate one or more interpolated samples based on the source sample data;
• providing a filter function wherein at least one of the interpolated samples is filtered to generate a filtered sample;
• providing a gain function wherein the filtered sample is processed to generate a gained sample;
• wherein at least one of the interpolation, filter, and gain functions further comprises outputting an earlier-calculated value along with an estimated difference value in lieu of calculating a new value.
