Abstract
A baler for manufacturing bales of harvested crop material comprises a bale chamber comprising a first part where a plunger can make a reciprocating movement, and a second part which cannot be reached by the reciprocating plunger. The second part has a varying cross section along the length direction of the bale chamber, whereby the rate of change of the cross sections is different at multiple positions along the length direction of the second part of the bale chamber.
Claims6
A baler for manufacturing bales of harvested crop material, the baler comprising:
- a reciprocating plunger;
- a bale chamber comprising a first part where the plunger can make a reciprocating movement, and a second part which cannot be reached by the reciprocating plunger, the second part comprising four walls defining a generally rectangular opening through which a bale being formed is urged along a bale travel axis from a front end input side towards a rear end output side,
- wherein the second part has a varying cross section along a length direction of the bale chamber and at least one wall of the second part comprises at least three connected planar sections, whereby along the length direction of the bale chamber at least three of the sections are connected under an angle relative to each other, these angles being selected such that the rate of change of the cross section f the bale chamber in a zone defined by each section is different on at least three distinct positions along the length direction of the bale chamber, each position lying in a different one of said at least three sections, and wherein at least two of the sections are pivotally connected with respect to one another.
