Abstract
A cloud center infrastructure system may include a service aggregator connected directly to a provider network. The service aggregator may be configured to receive, via the provider network, a data unit from a customer device, associated with a customer; identify a first device, associated with a first traffic processing service, based on a sequence of traffic processing services associated with the customer; and send the data unit to the first device, wherein the first device is located in a cloud services center, and wherein the first device is connected to the service aggregator over a Layer 2 connection.
Claims29
A cloud center infrastructure system comprising:
- a service aggregator functioning as an edge router of a provider network and configured to:
- store information identifying a sequence of traffic processing services that are to be applied to data units associated with a customer;
- receive, via the provider network, a data unit from a customer device, associated with the customer;
- identify a first device, associated with a first traffic processing service, based on the sequence of traffic processing services associated with the customer;
- and
- send the data unit to the first device, wherein the first device is located in a cloud services center, and wherein the first device is connected to the service aggregator over a Layer 2 connection.
A method performed by a networking device, the method comprising:
- receiving, by the networking device, a request to provide a first traffic processing service for a first customer, wherein the networking device is located on a provider network and configured to function as an edge router in the provider network;
- identifying, by the networking device, a first device associated with the first traffic processing service, wherein the first device is located in a cloud services center and connected to the networking device over a Layer 2 connection;
- configuring the networking device to receive a data unit, via the provider network, from a first customer device associated with the first customer;
- configuring the networking device to send the data unit, destined for a destination, received from the first customer device to the first device;
- and
- configuring the networking device to send the data unit to the destination after the unit is received from the first device.
A method performed by a networking device, comprising:
- storing, by the networking device, information identifying a sequence of traffic processing services that are to be applied to data units associated with a customer;
- receiving, by the networking device, a data unit associated with the customer;
- identifying, by the networking device, a first device, associated with a first traffic processing service, based on the sequence of traffic processing services associated with the customer;
- sending, by the networking device, the data unit to the first device;
- receiving, by the networking device, the data unit from the first device;
- sending, by the networking device, the data unit to a second device, associated with a second traffic processing service, based on the sequence of traffic processing services associated with the customer;
- receiving, by the networking device, the data unit from the second device;
- and
- sending, by the networking device, the data unit to a destination device, in response to receiving the data unit from the second device.
