System and method for providing hardware virtualization in a virtual machine environment

A method for providing hardware virtualization in a virtual machine environment, operating on a plurality of processing devices, the method comprising:

• providing an application server configured to provide a plurality of Java-based applications;
• providing on each processing device of said plurality of processing devices,
• a virtualization layer comprising a plurality of execution layer components,
• a plurality of Java Virtual Machines (JVM) each associated with a separate one of said plurality of execution layer components, and
• a resource broker agent (RBA) configured to monitor said plurality of JVM, monitor a load on said processing device, and create additional JVM using said virtualization layer,
• wherein each of said plurality of execution layer components is configured to run only a single Java-based application at a particular time, without being able to run any other applications simultaneously;
• and
• providing a resource broker, in communication with each RBA of said plurality of processing devices;
• receiving all resource requests from said application server to said plurality of processing devices at the resource broker;
• determining with the resource broker which RBA of said plurality of processing devices is best suited to handle each resource request received from the application server based on the load of each of said plurality of processing devices;
• and
• and directing each resource request received from said application server from said resource broker to a selected RBA of said plurality of processing devices.

Non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions thereon for providing hardware virtualization in a virtual machine environment, which instructions, when executed by a computer said computer to perform steps comprising:

• providing an application server configured to provide a plurality of Java-based applications;
• providing on each processing device of said plurality of processing devices,
• a virtualization layer comprising a plurality of execution layer components,
• a plurality of Java Virtual Machines (JVM) each associated with a separate one of said plurality of execution layer components, and
• a resource broker agent (RBA) configured to monitor said plurality of JVM, monitor a load on said processing device, and create additional JVM using said virtualization layer,
• wherein each of said plurality of execution layer components is configured to run only a single Java-based application at a particular time, without being able to run any other applications simultaneously;
• and
• providing a resource broker, in communication with each RBA of said plurality of processing devices;
• receiving all resource requests from said application server to said plurality of processing devices at the resource broker;
• determining with the resource broker which RBA of said plurality of processing devices is best suited to handle each resource request received from the application server based on the load of each of said plurality of processing devices;
• and
• directing each resource request received from said application server from said resource broker to a selected RBA of said plurality of processing devices.
