Abstract
A storage system constituted such that power saving to an administrator-desired storage device can be performed from a management device. That is, the storage system comprises a power-saving indication receiving section for receiving from a management console a power-saving indication specifying at least one storage device of a plurality of RAID groups, a plurality of logical units, and a plurality of physical storage devices; and a power-saving controller for saving on power to one or more physical storage devices corresponding to the storage device specified in this power-saving indication.
Claims38
A storage system comprising:
- a plurality of storage devices corresponding to a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups;
- and
- a controller managing one or more logical units on each of the RAID groups,
- wherein upon receipt of a power-saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, in the plurality RAID groups, the controller rejects the power-saving request if the one or more logical units on the specified RAID group are used by a predetermined function.
A storage system comprising:
- a plurality of storage devices corresponding to a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups;
- and
- a controller managing one or more logical units on each of the RAID groups,
- wherein upon receipt of a power-saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, in the plurality RAID groups, the controller rejects the power-saving request if a type of the one or more logical units on the specified RAID group is a predetermined logical unit type.
A method in a storage system including a plurality of storage devices corresponding to a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups, said method comprising:
- managing one or more logical units on each of the RAID groups;
- and
- upon receipt of a power-saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, in the plurality RAID groups, rejecting the power-saving request if the one or more logical units on the specified RAID group are used by a predetermined function.
A method in a storage system including a plurality of storage devices corresponding to a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups, said method comprising:
- managing one or more logical units on each of the RAID groups;
- and
- upon receipt of a power-saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, in the plurality RAID groups, rejecting the power-saving request if a type of the one or more logical units on the specified RAID group is a predetermined logical unit type.
A computer system comprising:
- a storage system including a plurality of storage devices forming a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups, and a controller managing one or more logical units on each of the plurality of RAID groups;
- and
- a management computer displaying a power saving state of the plurality of storage devices;
- wherein if the controller receives a power saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, on which a logical unit used for a predetermined function is created, from the management computer, the controller sends a message which indicates rejection of the power saving request to the management computer.
A computer system comprising:
- a storage system including a plurality of storage devices forming a plurality of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) groups, and a controller managing one or more logical units on each of the plurality of RAID groups;
- and
- a management computer displaying a power saving state of the plurality of storage devices;
- wherein if the management computer is inputted with a power saving request specifying a RAID group to which power-saving is not already being performed by the controller, on which a logical unit used for a predetermined function is created, the management computer displays a message which indicates rejection of the power saving request.
