Abstract
The present invention provides an inbred corn line designated IH6506, methods for producing a corn plant by crossing plants of the inbred line IH6506 with plants of another corn plant. The invention further encompasses all parts of inbred corn line IH6506, including culturable cells. Additionally provided herein are methods for introducing transgenes into inbred corn line IH6506, and plants produced according to these methods.
Claims18
A seed of the maize variety IH6506, representative seed sample deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12984.
A maize plant IH6506, representative seed sample of said IH6506 plant having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12984.
A process of introducing a heritable trait into maize variety IH6506 comprising:
- (a) crossing IH6506 plants grown from IH6506 seeds, representative seed sample deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12984, with plants of another maize variety that comprise a desired trait to produce hybrid progeny plants, (b) selecting hybrid progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected hybrid progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected hybrid progeny plants with the IH6506 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) at least three or more times to produce backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred plant IH6506 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
