Abstract
The present invention provides an inbred corn line designated NPID7052, methods for producing a corn plant by crossing plants of the inbred line NPID7052 with plants of another corn plant. The invention further encompasses all parts of inbred corn line NPID7052, including culturable cells. Additionally provided herein are methods for introducing transgenes into inbred corn line NPID7052, and plants produced according to these methods.
Claims19
A seed of the maize plant NPID7052, representative seed sample of said maize plant deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12395.
A maize plant NPID7052, representative seed of said maize plant NPID7052 plant having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12395.
A process of introducing a heritable trait into maize plant NPID7052 comprising:
- (a) crossing NPID7052 plants grown from NPID7052 seed, representative seed sample deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-12395, with plants of another maize plant that comprise a desired trait to produce hybrid progeny plants, (b) selecting hybrid progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected hybrid progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the NPID7052 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) at least three or more times to produce backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred plant NPID7052 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A maize plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of inbred plant NPID7052 further comprising an additional trait selected from the group consisting of waxy starch, male sterility or restoration of male fertility, modified carbohydrate metabolism, modified protein metabolism and modified fatty acid metabolism, altered starch, thermotolerant amylase, herbicide tolerance and/or resistance;
- insect or nematode tolerance and/or resistance, bacterial disease resistance, fungal disease resistance, and viral disease resistance.
