Abstract
This invention relates to medical articles, such as a syringe assemblies, including a substrate having a coating on a surface thereof, the coating including: (1) at least one organopolysiloxane and (2) a deposition product applied to the at least one organopolysiloxane by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of a composition including at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl acetate, ethylene oxide, alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, acrylamide, acrylic acid, and mixtures thereof, and methods of making and using the same.
Claims26
A medical article comprising a substrate having a coating on a surface thereof, the coating comprising:
- (1) at least one organopolysiloxane and (2) a deposition product applied to the at least one organopolysiloxane by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of a composition comprising at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl acetate, ethylene oxide, alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, acrylamide, acrylic acid, and mixtures thereof.
A syringe barrel having a coating on an inner surface thereof, the coating comprising at least one organopolysiloxane applied to the inner surface of the syringe barrel and a deposition product applied thereon, the deposition product being prepared by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of a composition comprising at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl acetate, ethylene oxide, alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, acrylamide, acrylic acid, and mixtures thereof.
A method for coating a surface of a medical article, comprising:
- (a) applying a first coating comprising at least one organopolysiloxane to a surface of a substrate;
- and
- (b) applying a deposition product to at least a portion of the first coating by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition of a composition comprising at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl acetate, ethylene oxide, alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, acrylamide, acrylic acid, and mixtures thereof.
A method for lubricating an interface between an inner surface of a chamber and an exterior surface of a sealing member of a medical article, comprising:
- (a) applying a first coating comprising at least one organopolysiloxane onto the interior surface of the chamber and/or the exterior surface of the sealing member;
