A bait station comprising:
- a lid coupled to a base, the base and lid defining an interior when the lid is closed, the base having a bottom and a doorway that leads to the interior, the base also having a height and a front-to-back width that is greater than the height;
- an empty receptacle securable to the base such that a portion of the receptacle is underneath the bottom of the base of the bait station, the receptacle being sized to hold, and having an opening through which, weighted material as large as a patio block can be inserted into or removed from the receptacle without screwing or unscrewing a fastener, and such that when the weighted material is disposed in the receptacle a portion of the weighted material is underneath the bottom of the base of the bait station and no portion of the weighted material is below the receptacle;
- and
- wherein when the receptacle is on a surface with the weighted material disposed in the receptacle the portion of the receptacle is underneath the portion of the weighted material and above the surface.

A bait station comprising:
- a lid coupled to a base, the base and lid defining an interior when the lid is closed, the base having a doorway that leads to the interior, the base also having a bottom in which one or more openings are positioned;
- an empty receptacle securable to the base such that a portion of the receptacle is underneath the bottom of the base of the bait station, the receptacle having one or more protrusions extendable through the one or more openings in the bottom of the base, the receptacle also being sized to hold, and having an opening through which weighted material as large as a patio block can be inserted into or removed from the receptacle without screwing or unscrewing a fastener, and such that when the weighted material is disposed in the receptacle a portion of the weighted material is underneath the bottom of the base of the bait station and no portion of the weighted material is below the receptacle;
- and
- wherein when the receptacle is on a surface with the weighted material disposed in the receptacle the portion of the receptacle is underneath the portion of the weighted material and above the surface.
