Abstract
Detecting a problem in a content distribution is disclosed. Performance information associated with a first content player is received form a first client. Performance information associated with a second content player is received from a second client. The information received from the first client and the second client is aggregated. A determination is made, from the aggregated information, that a problem is indicated. Alternate techniques for detecting a problem in a content distribution are also disclosed.
Claims34
A system, including:
- a first interface configured to receive, from a first client device, performance information associated with a first content player;
- a second interface configured to receive, from a second client device, performance information associated with a second content player;
- a content distribution monitor configured to, using a processor:
- aggregate the information received from the first client device and the information received from the second client device;
- and
- determine whether a problem is indicated based at least in part on a portion of the aggregated information;
- and
- a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.
A method, including:
- receiving, via a first interface, performance information associated with a first content player from a first client device;
- receiving, via a second interface, performance information associated with a second content player from a second client device;
- aggregating, using a content distribution monitor, the information received from the first client device and the information received from the second client device;
- and
- determining whether a problem is indicated based at least in part on a portion of the aggregated information.
A system, including:
- an interface configured to receive, from a client device, performance information associated with a content player, wherein the performance information includes a rendering rate of the client device;
- a content distribution monitor configured to, using a processor:
- determine from the received performance information whether a problem is indicated;
- and
- a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions.
A system, including:
- an interface configured to receive, from a client device, performance information associated with a content player, wherein the performance information includes buffer information associated with a content player;
- a content distribution monitor configured to, using a processor,
- determine from the received performance information whether a problem is indicated;
- and
- a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions.
A system, including:
- a first interface configured to receive, from a client device, first performance data associated with a content player;
- a second interface configured to receive second performance data associated with a node that is different from the client;
- a content distribution monitor configured to, using a processor:
- determine from the received first and second data whether a problem is indicated;
- and
- a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions.
