Abstract
A computer-implemented method and system is disclosed in which a network-based e-commerce environment includes a merchant site to receive a voice call associated with a purchase transaction from a consumer, generate a payment request corresponding to the consumer purchase transaction in response to receiving the voice call, send the payment request to a payment site, and receive confirmation from the payment site that payment for the consumer purchase transaction has been received.
Claims10
A method comprising:
- receiving a peer-to-peer (P2P) voice call associated with a purchase transaction from a consumer at a consumer system, wherein the P2P voice call is communicated from a consumer P2P call application at the consumer system via a P2P network and received by a merchant P2P call application at a merchant site, the consumer P2P call application being used to create and maintain a P2P voice call communication connection with the merchant P2P call application, the merchant P2P call application being used to create and maintain a P2P voice call communication connection with the consumer P2P call application, the merchant site creating a consumer transaction record associated with the P2P voice call;
- using information automatically retrieved from data associated with the P2P voice call to create the consumer transaction record;
- automatically associating the consumer transaction record with the purchase transaction from the consumer;
- initiating a payment request from the merchant site to the consumer system, the payment request corresponding to the consumer transaction record in response to receiving the P2P voice call,
- the payment request to the consumer system causing the consumer system to subsequently initiate a login operation at a payment site;
- and
- receiving confirmation from the payment site at the merchant site that payment for the consumer purchase transaction has been received.
An article of manufacture comprising a non-transitory machine-readable medium having machine executable instructions embedded thereon, which when executed by a machine, cause the machine to:
- receive a peer-to-peer (P2P) voice call associated with a purchase transaction from a consumer at a consumer system, wherein the P2P voice call is communicated from a consumer P2P call application at the consumer system via a P2P network and received by a merchant P2P call application at a merchant site, the consumer P2P call application being used to create and maintain a P2P voice call communication connection with the merchant P2P call application, the merchant P2P call application being used to create and maintain a P2P voice call communication connection with the consumer P2P call application, the merchant site creating a consumer transaction record associated with the P2P voice call;
- use information automatically retrieved from data associated with the P2P voice call to create the consumer transaction record;
- automatically associate the consumer transaction record with the purchase transaction from the consumer;
- initiate a payment request from the merchant site to the consumer system, the payment request corresponding to the consumer transaction record in response to receiving the P2P voice call,
- the payment request to the consumer system causing the consumer system to subsequently initiate a login operation at a payment site;
- and
- receive confirmation from the payment site at the merchant site that payment for the consumer purchase transaction has been received.
