Magnetic resonance imaging apparatus

A magnetic resonance imaging system comprising:

• patient positioning system means for positioning a patient within a magnetic resonance imaging field about a patient-receiving portion thereof, said field containing inhomogeneities within said patient-receiving portion;
• a support, said support providing horizontal, vertical, sitting down, rotational, angular and translational movement of a patient;
• a bed connected to said support and providing a surface for said patient;
• a drive, said drive connected to said support and powering same, said drive having no ferromagnetic components, a portion of said drive being remote to said magnetic resonance imaging field and connected thereto by a connector device;
• and
• a plurality of correction magnets, said correction magnets placed within a field of a magnetic resonance imaging system,
• said correction magnets substantially correcting said inhomogeneities and straightening field lines associated with said field within said patient-receiving portion,
• wherein at least one of said correction magnets being flexibly positionable to correct said inhomogeneities within said field.
