Cyclosporin A form 2 and method of making same

A method for making cyclosporin A form 2, the method comprising the sequential steps of:

• a) preparing a suspension of cyclosporin A in a solvent comprising water and an ingredient selected from the group consisting of acetonitrile, 1,4-dioxane, and ethanol;
• b) performing a first heating-cooling cycle comprising heating the suspension to a temperature of between about 5° C. and about 50° C., followed by cooling the suspension to a temperature of about 1° C. to about 35° C.;
• c) performing a second heating-cooling cycle comprising heating the suspension to a temperature of between about 5° C. and about 50° C., followed by cooling the suspension to a temperature of about 1° C. to about 35° C.;
• and
• d) performing a third heating-cooling cycle comprising heating the suspension to a temperature of between about 5° C. and about 50° C., followed by cooling the suspension to a temperature of about 1° C. to about 35° C.
