Abstract
The invention relates to an isolated amino acid that can act as an antagonist to FGF signaling, comprising at least a portion of the FGF protein amino acid sequence, and including a mutation in either a) the integrin αvβ3 binding region of FGF-1; or b) the FGFR binding region of FGF-1.
Claims8
A method for reducing FGF signaling activity in a mammal, said method comprising administering to the mammal an effective amount of a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:7, wherein the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:7 has:
- (1) an amino acid mutation R50E;
- (2) amino acid mutations E101A, Y109A, and N110A;
- (3) amino acid mutations K127E, K128E, K133E, and R134E;
- or
- (4) an amino acid mutation N33A.
