## Abstract

The invention relates to a ceramic binary material and to a method for the production thereof. The material has piezoelectric properties and has a composition of the formula (1−x)(Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)×(K0.5Na0.5NbO3), where 0<x≦0.15. Furthermore, the invention relates to a component comprising said material.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A ceramic material having the composition (1−x)(Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)×(K0.5Na0.5NbO3), wherein 0<x≦0.15, wherein the ceramic material is binary.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The material according to claim 1, wherein x is in the range of 0.08≦x≦0.12.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The material according to claim 1, wherein said material is lead-free.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The material according to claim 1, wherein x is in the range of 0.06≦x≦0.075, and the material has a morphotropic phase boundary.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The material according to claim 1, wherein x=0.12.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The material according to claim 1, wherein x=0.11.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

A component having at least one ceramic base body and at least two electrodes arranged on the base body, wherein the base body has a material as claimed in claim 1.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The component according to claim 7, wherein the base body comprises a multiplicity of stacked ceramic layers with electrodes arranged therebetween, wherein the electrodes lead out from the stacked ceramic layers and are contacted via external electrodes.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The use of the component according to claim 7 as a piezo actuator.

### Claim 10

A method for the production of a material comprising a ceramic material having the composition (1−x)(Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)×(K0.5Na0.5NbO3), wherein 0<x≦0.15, comprising the following steps of:
A) mixing powdery oxygen-containing compounds of Bi, Na, K, Ti and Nb in a stoichiometric ratio to produce a starting mixture,
B) grounding and calcining the starting mixture to produce a powdery solid solution,
C) pressing and sintering the powdery solid solution;
wherein the ceramic material is binary.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method according to claim 10, wherein, in method step A), the powdery oxygen-containing compounds are selected from a group comprising oxides and carbonates of Bi, Na, K, Ti and Nb.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The method according to claim 10, wherein, in method step B), the starting mixture is ground in a solvent, dried and calcined at a temperature in the range of 800° C. to 950° C.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The method according to claim 10, wherein, in method step C), the ground powdery solid solution is pressed to form disks and sintered at a temperature in the range of 1050° C. to 1150° C.
