## Abstract

Methods of using TLE3 as a marker for predicting the likelihood that a patient's cancer will respond to chemotherapy. Methods of using TLE3 as a marker for selecting a chemotherapy for a cancer.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating breast, lung or ovarian cancer in a patient comprising administering to the patient in need thereof a taxane, wherein the patient's cancer has been previously identified to express TLE3 polypeptide.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the patient's cancer is breast cancer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the patient is triple negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER-2 markers.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the patient's cancer is lung cancer.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the patient's cancer is ovarian cancer.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 12

A method of treating breast, lung, or ovarian cancer in a patient, wherein the cancer has been identified as positive for TLE3 polypeptide expression, the method comprising administering a taxane to the patient.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the cancer is breast cancer.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the patient is triple negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER-2 markers.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 17 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the cancer is lung cancer.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 20 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the cancer is ovarian cancer.

### Claim 21 (depends on 20)

The method of claim 20, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

### Claim 22 (depends on 20)

The method of claim 20, wherein the taxane is docetaxel.

### Claim 23

A method of treating breast cancer in a patient, wherein the patient is triple negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER-2 markers and the cancer has been identified as positive for TLE3 polypeptide expression, the method comprising administering a taxane to the patient.
