## Abstract

A biobeneficial coating composition for coating an implantable device, such as a drug eluting stent, a method of coating the device with the composition, an implantable device coated with the composition, and a method of treating a disorder are provided.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating a disorder in a subject by implanting in the subject an implantable device, wherein the implantable device comprising a coating which comprises a composition, wherein the composition comprises
(1) a first block copolymer having the following structure:
wherein m and n are positive integers, and
(2) a second block copolymer comprising
(i) a biobeneficial component selected from the group consisting of sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid, heparin, and 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxide; and
(ii) a component miscible with the first block copolymer selected from the group consisting of polystyrene-polyisobutylene-polystyrene block copolymer (SIS), polystyrene, and polyisobutylene.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the second block copolymer is selected from the group consisting of SIS-hyaluronic acid (HA), polystyrene-HA, polyisobutylene-HA SIS-heparin, polystyrene-heparin, and polyisobutylene-heparin.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises a bioactive agent.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the bioactive agent is selected from the group consisting of proteins, peptides, anti-inflammatory agents, antivirals, anticancer drugs, anticoagulant agents, free radical scavengers, and a combination thereof.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the bioactive agent is selected from the group consisting of everolimus, sirolimus, sirolimus derivatives, paclitaxel, estradiol, steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, antibiotics, nitric oxide donors, super oxide dismutases, super oxide dismutases mimics, 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (4-amino-TEMPO), tacrolimus, dexamethasone, rapamycin, 40-O-(3-hydroxy)propyl-rapamycin, 40-O-[2-(2-hydroxy)ethoxy]ethyl-rapamycin, 40-O-tetrazole-rapamycin, ABT-578, clobetasol, cytostatic agents, and a combination thereof.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the implantable device is a stent.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the implantable device is a stent.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the implantable device is a drug eluting stent (DES).

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the subject is a human, and wherein disorder is selected from the group consisting of stenosis, occlusions of the arterial vasculature, and vulnerable plaque.

### Claim 10

A method of treating a disorder in a subject by implanting in the subject an implantable device, wherein the implantable device comprising a coating which comprises a composition, wherein the composition comprises
(1) a first block copolymer having the following structure:
wherein m and n are positive integers, and
(2) a second block copolymer selected from the group consisting of SIS-hyaluronic acid (HA), polystyrene-HA, and polyisobutylene-HA.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the second block copolymer is polystyrene-HA.
