## Abstract

A medical device includes a balloon catheter having an expandable member, e.g., an inflatable balloon, at its distal end and a stent or other endoprosthesis. The stent is, for example, an apertured tubular member formed of a polymer and is assembled about the balloon. The stent has an initial diameter for delivery into the body and can be expanded to a larger diameter by inflating the balloon.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A product comprising:
an endoprosthesis having a body formed of a non-bioabsorbable polymer comprising a cross-linked polycyclooctene, the polycyclooctene having been cross-linked while the endoprosthesis is in an expanded position to provide shape memory to the endoprosthesis, the endoprosthesis being designed for delivery into a body lumen and being in a collapsed state so that the endoprosthesis can be delivered into the body lumen, and wherein the endoprosthesis is capable of reverting from the collapsed state to the expanded state when warmed after delivery to a body lumen.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the body has a wall having a wall thickness and wherein the wall thickness is maintained if the endoprosthesis reverts from the collapsed state to the expanded state.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The product of claim 2, wherein the change in the wall thickness is less than about 1%.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The product of claim 2, wherein the wall thickness is from about 0.005 mm to about 5 mm.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis is a stent.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis is capable of reverting from the collapsed state to the expanded state at a temperature below 60° C.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis is capable of reverting from the collapsed state to the expanded state at a temperature above 37° C.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein only a portion of the endoprosthesis is in a collapsed state that is capable of reverting to an expanded state when warmed.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the polycyclooctene has been chemically cross-linked.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis has a tubular shape.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the polycyclooctene has been radiation cross-linked.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the polycyclooctene exhibits a plateau in its plot of storage modulus as a function of temperature.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis further includes radiopaque agent.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the endoprosthesis further includes a drug.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the body of the endoprosthesis is metal-free.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1, wherein the body of the endoprosthesis consists of the cross-linked polycyclooctene.

### Claim 17

A product comprising:
a stent having a metal-free body formed of a non-bioabsorbable polymer comprising a cross-linked polycyclooctene, the polycyclooctene having been cross-linked while the stent is in an expanded position to provide shape memory to the stent, the stent being designed for delivery into a body lumen and being in a collapsed state so that the stent can be delivered into the body lumen, and wherein the stent is capable of reverting from the collapsed state to the expanded state when warmed after delivery to a body lumen.
