### Claim 1

A method for promoting proliferation and/or migration of skin cells, comprising:
providing a composition containing a compound of formula (I):
and
administrating to the skin cells said composition.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition inhibits activity and/or synthesis of matrix metalloproteinase in the skin cells.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition inhibits phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase in the skin cells.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition promotes expression of transforming growth factor-β, vascular endothelial growth factor, or platelet-derived factor-αβ in the skin cells.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition is a ginger extract.

### Claim 6

A method for improving wound healing in a subject, comprising:
providing a composition containing a compound of formula (I):
and
administrating to the subject said composition.
