## Abstract

The use of ethyl gallate methyl gallate or 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate for treatment of septic shock Said compounds may also prophylactically treat septic shock via administration to a subject before the development of a fall in blood pressure.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating septic shock comprising administering to an individual in need of such treatment an effective amount of ethyl gallate, methyl gallate, or ethyl 3,4 dihydroxybenzoate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1 wherein the effective amount is an amount ethyl gallate, methyl gallate or ethyl 3,4 dihydroxybenzoate sufficient to produce a serum range between 9.7×10-7 mol/L to 4.3×10-6 mol/L in the individual in need of such treatment.

### Claim 3

A method of prophylactically treating septic shock comprising administering to an individual in need of such treatment an effective amount of ethyl gallate, methyl gallate, or ethyl 3,4 dihydroxybenzoate.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method according to claim 3 wherein the effective amount is an amount ethyl gallate, methyl gallate or ethyl 3,4 dihydroxybenzoate sufficient to produce a serum range between 9.7×10-7 mol/L to 4.3×10-6 mol/L in the individual in need of such treatment.
