## Abstract

A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer, in particular drug resistant cancer, comprising an effective amount of bifunctional alkylating agent, an effective amount of a DNA repair inhibitor, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer comprising an effective amount of a derivative of 3a-aza-cyclopentaindene selected from the group consisting of BO-1012, an effective amount of a DNA repair inhibitor, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1 wherein the DNA repair inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of arsenic trioxide, LY294002, and triciribine.

### Claim 3

A method of treating cancer suffered by a mammalian subject comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of BO-1012 and an effective amount of a DNA repair inhibitor.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the subject is administered with the BO-1012 before being administered with the DNA repair inhibitor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the DNA repair inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of ATO, Ly294002, and triciribine.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is resistant to an individual therapeutic agent.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human lung cancer.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human bladder cancer.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human breast cancer.

### Claim 10 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human prostate cancer.

### Claim 11 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human glioma cancer.

### Claim 12 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the cancer is human oral cancer.

### Claim 13

A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer comprising an effective amount of BO-1509, an effective amount of a DNA repair inhibitor, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The composition of claim 13 wherein the DNA repair inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of arsenic trioxide, LY294002, and triciribine.
