## Abstract

Aminoethers are used as corrosion inhibitors in boiler systems in which a working fluid comprising water with an aminoether corrosion inhibitor is circulated from a heater to a utilization site at which the working fluid gives up energy and decreases in temperature. A preferred class of aminoethers are the alkoxytriethyleneglycol-tert-alkylamines such as methoxy triethyleneglycol-tert-butylamine.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A closed loop boiler system having a circuit in which a working fluid comprising water and an aminoether corrosion inhibitor is circulated from a heater to a utilization site comprising a radiator and/or a heat exchanger at which the working fluid gives up energy and decreases in temperature in which the aminoether corrosion inhibitor comprises a diamino ether and an aminoether alcohol represented by the respective formulae:
where x is an integer ranging from 2 to 6.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A system according to claim 1 which is a single phase, closed loop system in which the water is heated in the heater and circulated to the utilization site.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A system according to claim 1 which is a closed loop system having a circuit in which the water is converted to steam in the heater and condensed to water at at least one condensation site comprising a radiator and/or a heat exchanger in the circuit.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A system according to claim 1 in which the aminoether corrosion inhibitor comprises the diamino ether and aminoalcohol where the weight ratio of the diamino ether to the aminoalcohol ranges from 0.23:1 to 2.3:1.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

A system according to claim 1 in which the aminoether corrosion inhibitor comprises a mixture of bis-(tert-butylaminoethoxy) ethane and tert-butylaminoethoxyethoxyethanol.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A system according to claim 1 in which the steam temperature is up to about 250° C.
