Abstract
Disclosed herein are various open reading frames from a strain of E. coli responsible for neonatal meningitis (MNEC), and a subset of these that is of particular interest for preparing compositions for immunising against MNEC infections.

A substantially purified polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of (a) the sequence which has at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 7052;
- and (b) a fragment of SEQ ID NO:
- 7052, wherein the fragment (i) includes at least 100 consecutive amino acids from SEQ ID NO:
- 7052;
- or (ii) consists of 40 or more consecutive amino acids from SEQ ID NO:
- 7052.
