Abstract
Enriched steady state microbial consortiums for microbial enhanced oil recovery and in situ bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated sites, under anaerobic denitrifying conditions, are disclosed.
Claims6
A composition for enhancing oil recovery or for in situ bioremediation comprising an isolated consortium of microbial species comprising:
- a) at least one species of the genus Thauera having a 16S rDNA nucleic acid molecule that has at least 95% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 15;
- b) at least one species having a 16S rDNA nucleic acid molecule that has at least 95% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 16;
- and
- c) at least one species having a 16S rDNA nucleic acid molecule that has at least 95% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 17, wherein Thauera species comprise at least 60% of the population of the consortium.
