## Abstract

A system and method are provided for trading a trading strategy defined for at least one tradeable object in an electronic trading environment. More specifically, one example method includes using a first pay-up tick value to determine a first acceptable price level for an order associated with the trading strategy, automatically modifying the first pay-up tick to a second pay-up tick value in response to detecting a predefined condition, and using the second pay-up tick value to determine a second acceptable price level for the order associated with the trading strategy.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method, comprising:
receiving, via a processor, a user-selection for applying a static pay-up tick and applying a conditional pay-up tick to an offset order of a spread order; and
applying, via the processor, the user-selection of the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick to the offset order of the spread order,
where in response to a selection of applying the static pay-up tick, the static pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is not modifiable, and where in response to a selection of applying the conditional pay-up tick, the conditional pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is modifiable in response to detection of a selected condition.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 where the selected condition is based on market data.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 where the selected condition is based on at least one equation including a plurality of user-defined variables.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 where the selected condition comprises a trader-performance based condition.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 where applying the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick comprises setting a price for the offset order according to a pay-up tick value.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising:
detecting, via the processor, a second selected condition; and
applying, via the processor, the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick to a further offset order for the spread order subsequent to detecting the second selected condition.

### Claim 7

A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that when executed by a processor cause the processor to carry out acts comprising:
receiving, via a processor, a user-selection for applying a static pay-up tick and applying a conditional pay-up tick to an offset order of a spread order; and
applying, via the processor, the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick to the offset order of the spread order,
where in response to a selection of applying the static pay-up tick, the static pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is not modifiable, and where in response to a selection of applying the conditional pay-up tick, the conditional pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is modifiable in response to detection of a selected condition.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 where the selected condition is based on market data.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 where the selected condition is based on at least one equation including a plurality of user-defined variables.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 where the selected condition comprises a trader-performance based condition.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 where applying the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick comprises setting a price for the offset order according to a pay-up tick value.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 where the acts further comprise:
detecting, via the processor, a second selected condition; and
applying, via the processor, the user-selection of the static pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick to a further offset order for the spread order subsequent to detecting the second selected condition.

### Claim 13

A client device comprising:
a user input configured to receive a user-selection of a static pay-up tick and a conditional pay-up tick for an offset order of a spread order; and
a processor coupled with the user input and configured to apply the static pay-up tick to the offset order of the spread order in response to a selection of the static pay-up tick and apply the conditional pay-up tick to the offset order of the spread order in response to selection of the conditional pay-up tick, where the static pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is not modifiable, and where the conditional pay-up tick applied to the offset order of the spread order is modifiable in response to detection of a selected condition.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The client device of claim 13 where the selected condition is based on market data.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The client device of claim 13 where the selected condition is based on at least one equation including a plurality of user-defined variables.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The client device of claim 13 where the selected condition comprises a trader-performance based condition.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The client device of claim 13 where applying the user-selection of the pay-up tick and the conditional pay-up tick comprises setting a price for the offset order according to a pay-up tick value.

### Claim 18 (depends on 13)

The client device of claim 13 where the processor is further configured to apply at least one of a second static pay-up tick and a second conditional pay-up tick to a further offset order for the spread order subsequent to detecting a second selected condition.
